I had to change the background music. Mary Travers singing John's songs has been removed because of copyright infringement. I did get the music from a site that allowed me to download it free. The song now being used is from the choice that You Tube offered it is sung by Angela Easterling, written for Johnny Cash, and it is a great song!!!! www.angelaeasterling.com

Lyrics to Dear Johnny

Dear Johnny,

I just heard that you were gone. And I had to sit down here and sing you one last song.

I know I should be happy that you're free from all your pain

Today's the day my hero got his wings.

Were you smiling when you saw your bride? Was she waitin' there for you on the other side?

While I sit here on the brink and watch you Fly Away, Fly Away

And is the Man in Black wearin' white today.

Dear Johnny, This old world's a crazy place. There's no one to believe in; there's so little room for faith.

So you'll please forgive me if I shed a selfish tear; somehow it all seemed better with you here.

Now you're singin' in that holy Angel Band. And are there streets of gold right where you stand?

While I sit here on the brink and watch you fly away... Fly away

On October 12, 1997 one of this planet's greatest lyricist/entertainer passed while flying in an experimental ultra light plane. He loved the idea of flight, and left us way too soon. He will always remain in a special place in my heart.
There are 1000 videos here on You Tube about John Denver, fifty pages.

  • Did you guys notice that the video says"His Passing October 12, 2007" he died October 12, 1997.

  • @xEdddie If you read it carefully it states: In Loving Memory Of A Great Man and Loving Soul on the Tenth Anniversary of his passing October 12, 2007. I will certainly never forget that day and year when the world lost one of it's greatest contemporary prophets. I can tell you that I was at our camper in a campgrounds when I saw it on the TV. Later that day after I went home, my sister Irene called and we both cried over the phone. He was loved by my entire family!

  • @Jardinami I was thinking the same thing @xEddie! Country Roads is the family favorite.

  • @pantheriz03 In 2007 I made this video slide in memory of this great man who passed ten years earlier on Oct. 12, 1997, thus the ten year anniversary of his passing. You should hear my four year old granddaughter Maggie sing Country Roads. She has a slight speech impediment and sounds so cute, and knows all the words, as she hears them. I must record her singing it and put it up. Thanks for the comment!

  • to bad glen cambell stole your wife,Ill never for give him.......

  • I have always loved John Denver. I used to sing his songs to my infant son, who is now 34. I now sing to his daughter. She loves John's song "For Baby" and tells her dad he should sing it to her.

  • Beautiful song. I have to admit, it brought me to tears. I grew up loving John Denvers music. His lyrics were always so beautiful....I had a huge crush on him. R.I.P. John!

  • JOHN DENVER WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE WITH US!

  • this makes me cry every time! R.I.P. J.D we miss even after 14 yrs that you been gone. We will never let you be forgotten! I love dear John! I wish I could have meet you.

  • @Franny460

Glenn cannot compare to the artistic ability of Mr. Denver! Palllease!

  • @Jardinami You did a fantastic job on this post. It's beautiful. As you said, I won't ever forget that day either. I remember thinking, this is awful, I always thought he never received the appreciation he deserved. He was an activist for nature preservation and an amazing guitar player & artist. Many of my friends didn't like his music, but I thought it was really inspirational. Sad about him & Annie, it should've worked. I know through his problems, he still loved her.

  • @troylreevesable I envy you! What privilege!

  • His music meant a lot to me growing up...... and still does. I took a motorcycle trip from Ohio and ended up going through Colorado. As soon as I hit Estes Park I put John in the headphones and listened to him up and over the continental divide. Rocky mountain high indeed. I'm gonna do that shit again! Thank you John....and thank you John supporters. Annie got her song...John deserves one as well.
