@Xdeathtroll He was in costume, but his nervousness was real. He wasn't acting, if you've seen Rubin and Ed you'd realize his character isn't anything like how he acted in this interview. If you watch his other interviews you'd see the same awkward behavior. He himself even denies this interview took place and is embarrassed about it. I like how you guys are trying to make him into some sort of Andy Kaufman like figure, but he isn't. He's real and that's what I like about him.

Don't get all "Oh he's the greatest ever because he planned this."
So what? Lots of plans backfire. This one did.

I wonder if he still watches Science Fiction Theatre.

clover is a whacky facktard douche bag wierdo
I want to explain this:
Glover did his first appearance on Letterman in character as Rubin to promote the release of Rubin and Ed. In this interview and the one following it he uses delaying tactics to waste the interview time, to avoid explaining his behavior in the first interview -to keep it a mystery. He uses the uncomfortable awkwardness in this one, and in the following one launches into a long and unrelated story.
Letterman didn't know. Now you know. Okay? Okay.

Crispin Glover is actually doing an Andy Kaufman style prank on letterman. not the other way around. He was playing a character from a movie that was never released called Rubin and Ed. Crispin is just messing with everybody here.
