I think people forget that their recordings sucked because no one recorded them well... Listen to their studio sessions, gives them perfect justification. They sound amazing live, but the recordings are from 90's camcorders at small venues.

I think both Jellyfish and McFly did a good job. Jellyfish should take it as a compliment that such a successful band have covered their song and introduced them to a new audience :)

I think they should be given credit for wearing quality influences on their sleeve. I always knew they had more than just a teenybop band in them. The Beatles started as a teenybop band and 'Love Me Do' sucks more than any McFly song. And if you check out McFly's 'Transylvania' [search for it on this site] you can hear a definite Jellyfish influence, right down to the whispered line.
