  • You both are correct, SAG made the set a union shoot, and Stoker was in the SAG and a firefighter with LA County. LA County loaned them the engine, and it had to be a LA county firefighter driving it. He fit the bill, and also went on to be a Battalion Chief in LA. I worked for him.

  • @Darren50001 You are wrong about the reason why the producers wanted a real fireman to drive engine, 51. They ( the producers) wanted someone who did know how to actually drive the engine. The producers did not want risk having some actor wreaking the engine. Mike also had a valid screen actor's guild card at the time of the show I read this on Mike Stoker's bio on Wikipedia

  • Stroker was officially a fireman and the one licensed to drive the FIre Engine no matter what. a Certified fire fighter had to drive the Engine 51 no matter what.

  • The thing I liked best about this show was they all looked like they really knew what they were doing. They didn't look like they were acting. Especially when they responded to the heart attack victims who needed all that extra attention. Wonder if they had any special training before the show.

  • Stoker was, but Lopez was not.

  • Weren't Stoker and Lopez real firefighters

  • Thanks for posting!
