Even if it was engine swapped the Golf has a 2.8 6 cylinder which is bigger than any Honda Civic with an engine swap.

stock vti 1,6 160hp is about 17 years top motor for its ccm despite no turbos or compressors.
show me any atmospheric motor made by shitty vw concern that makes 1hp on every 10ccm.
why it is so often swapped-that is the geniality of honda motors how to improve non vtec motor. if u add compressor or turbo u go over 400hp and still have 1,6. show me any motor by vw that has 1,6 and can do this) same age vw motor that is 1,8(not 1,6!) g60 has to have compressor to have 160hp)))
