@AulicExclusiva I also find this impressive even though I'm no expert in zarzuela and have only a rudimentary understanding of Spanish. The tone, phrasing, technique are what I admire in Villazon's singing. I wonder when this recording was made since I understand that recently he has had some vocal problems. Thanks, AE, for sending it to me, and thanks to valdezalcantara for the posting.
@OperaticVoice Are you one of those people who go about on the pay from rivals criticising performers? If you knew anything at all about singing, you would realise that this is first rate.
Lázaro, Fleta, Kraus, Domingo and Carreras all recorded this famous romanza from DOñA FRANCISQUITA, a 1923 zarzuela by Amadeo Vives (1871-1932) . This is probably the best, both for ease and grace of vocalization, musical elegance and unaffected expressivity. I recently purchased this CD and it is superb. I particularly liked his liquid, lyric restraint.
Yay, this is so pretty X3 I can't understand any language but English but I can so feel his singing! Placido and Rolando are what made me love opera. I've always had a curiosity but they *really really* gave me a reason to love it!

@RavynneRune
You and me both. I think the comment made by "OperaticVoice" is probably from a frustrated so-called singer, who never made it and nobody cared.
