8. Toby Gerhart even struggled his first season, averaging 3.5 ypc, and he had just broken a Cali state rushing record in high school, he is still 3rd all time in high school history. It takes players a year to adjust, which is why true freshmans rarely see playing time. Redshirt freshman's barely get to see the majority of carries at runningback.. McGuffie was straight out of high school. Look how Gerhart turned out his last 2 seasons, Spectacular playing

@cainepittman2 how is he a bust? in his 2nd year he had 1300 yards from scrimmage and 9 touchdownd on a crappy team with no blocking and no passing game, they went through 4 quarterbacks. He had 661 yards and 4 touchdowns back as a TRUE freshman when Michigan's line was stil gelling together, and they were trying to run the option with Steven Threet and Nick Sheridan. He still has 2 years left to play, and has done well each time he has played, how is that a bust again?

@dwid1984 well, RRod came into Michigan needing to win and win now. McGuffie was a weapon he had to use. Not saying it was best for McGuffie, but that was the justification behind RRod's choice

After a year of a college weight program dude looks buff, like a completely different person, in this video he looks like a high school boy, in the recent games at Rice he looks like a grown man. It wouldve been sick with them two running the option, the carries wouldve been more evenly split up, perfect system for both, Sam has had trouble w inside runs, with the option he could just get pitches from Denard to the outside

Man.... too bad he had to show up at Michigan at literally the worst time in history. Him and Denard could have dominated. But he really got unlucky and got beat up. Plus he wanted to stay closer to home, so I wish him continued good luck
