@MrNeuschwanstein Are you kidding me? The sigma 70-300 a better choice? You are right- it is more compact and lighter- it also is built like utter crap compared to this lens, has a slow aperture of 3.5-5.6 vs the constant 2.8 of the sony, no super sonic motor, etc... and what is stopping you from traveling with the Sony? I took this lens and the Zeiss 24-70 along with my A850+BG for 3 weeks in Japan from the states. The only reason to buy the sigma 70-300 is to save money and that is IT.

its funny to see people saying "wow this lens focus so slow" or "is Sony copying Canon's design?"
go get some research and shoot more please. Don't shame yourself.
-
This looks exactly like the canon offering.
-
not eve joking.. i would remove my left bollock for this lens!
-
@crazybiscut Because sony acquired Minolta?
-
@MrNeuschwanstein Are you serious? You would give up a constant f2.8 for extra 100m? There's a reason why this lens is more expensive, because it's way better.
-
Which is better to buy 70-200mm or 70-300mm. Both are from G series.
-
Does this cam have a mic input?
-
what a beautiful lens but guess what it weighs a ton compared to the 70-400mm in which it is bigger. but I would like to have one if ever someone will give me one for free.
-
funny how if u go to the Minolta Website and look up their lenses all of them look like the sony G lens
