The panel was discussing the effect of Sen. Obama's personal and professional relationships on his campaign when Rachel and Joe disagreed. Joe started to challenge Rachel's argument that relationships only become an issue when a political opponent makes them an issue, but she cut him off, "Let me make my point and then you can dismiss me." She then finished with an example of a McCain campaign co-chair in Florida's bathroom activities.

After a commercial break, Joe prefaced his rebuttal to Rachel's point by saying "I don't engage in Crossfire-type debates and certainly I don't want to talk about what people do in bathrooms." When he finished speaking, and after David Gregory had shut Joe vs. Rachel down, John Harrow came on camera. Then, viewers can hear Joe taking off his microphone (2:47 into the below video). When the panel picture came back, no Joe.

Watch Rachel and Joe make their points, hear Joe unplug, and then (after a jump) see the panel after Joe has gone:

  • "I am white in the USA, of German desent from the 20th century and I am not responsible for slavery!"

Who said you were responsible for Slavery? Statements like this automatically shows your ignorance. The Race problem in America did not start and end with slavery. Maybe when people like you decide to wake up from your long sleep and join the rest of the world, you'll figure out you're indeed part of the problem.

  • Banghouse/correct. PT II

I will speak to you because people who run on & on about "leftist" this& that, act as though ignorance is a virtue, intelligence is a problem relying on the tired & ineffectual tactic of starting an argument by using inflammatory language designed to change the subject. They are ignorant, to be laughed at &pitied- losers finally reaping the fruit of stupidity.

Disagreement is fine - make your case with facts. To assume an argument supported with vitriol is childish

  • I agree J0nathanxl.

    Thanks for the support!

  • Malcolm X said horrible, angry things early on. Later, he recanted and became a great leader. Those who followed his later teachings were not responsible for his separatist ideas. Maddow's point similarly had to do with "guilt by association". Cliff Schecter, G. Gordon Liddy, the AIP are some of McCain's associations, done at least as despicable things as Wright, maybe worse. McCain didn't have to defend himself because the other campaign took the higher ground. That's her point. Listen.

  • Joe: "I don't engage in debates where I've been utterly destroyed before I even open my mouth."

  • Her point is not valid. There's a huge difference between a pastor who espouses viewpoints publicly and a creep who does scurrilous things in private. How would McCain know everything about the creep's past? If you want to criticize him for a bad association, do it for his VP pick

  • Joe says he doesn't engage in debates, and doesn't mean to be condescending- while doing both! What a craven simpleton. Somebody find Joe his binkie!

  • You have it backwards as liberals often do - Mr. Scarborough bodyslammed Mr. Maddow.

  • Joe...... stay in that bathroom where you belong.

You are truly an ignorant fool -- perfect for Fox.

  • ummm....where was the "Body slam"? I must have missed it...

  • the title says she bodyslams him.....

  • Rachel, good work, do not back down. You smacked down Joe (I don't engage in crossfire debates!) HA! there was no crossfire, he interrupted her and she stepped in and took back her spot. Joe did not like how he was not "morning Joey."

  • Scarborough is a douche bag cry baby.....NO balls, NO back bone. What a twit!!!
