and what was my 'vintage' of fan liked.,. well maybe the aggression, majesty, beauty, irony and bluntness that sealed the deal for many of us. Rattus Norvegicus, as a 14 year old kid on holiday in Wales I begged my parents to buy this for me . Blimey what an album, definetely not suitable for such a tender age hehe

I dont agree entirely. The Stranglers output since Hugh hasnt been (with a few glorious exceptions) of the qaulity of the initial years of the band. Hugh was the VOICE of the stranglers. His singing voice was so emblematic of the band. In the early 80s and after the Hugh period in the 90's I saw the band live a number of times. Without Hugh the band wouldnt have been famous, period. Without the others (JJ Jet and Dave) its doubtful too

what can you say, timeless song, always gives you a great nostalgic feeling when you hear it? long live the ratius 1v

Heaven is this brilliant, brilliant! JJ (Burnel) and company channeling Jim (Morrison) and The Doors bluesy idiom. The Stranglers - the band that time will not forget! Honest - thank G-d for the Web and YouTube.
