  • Beautiful interesting video! Thank you.

  • & Chicago.. So you were part of the crew team responsible for the modern bridge then..sounds like Brubeck to me there..

  • Thanks, We pre-fabricated this BathTub Girder bridge in the lates 70's at Kaiser Steel Fabrication, Fontana, Calif. It took us < two years in Heavy Duty bay and we loaded the steel sections on three rail cars with pivoting plates per section. We built them in left & right side sections that weighed over 125 tons each. A welder lost one of his legs from being crushed by one of the parts. Made in USA with blood, sweat & tears!

  • The bridge as finished in Jan.1927 was a lift bridge, just like its Bay area soulmates San Mateo, the railroad Martinez (the only surivor, by the soon-to-be-replaced Benicia), and Antioch. All have been long replaced by concrete high-level bridges.

  • hell yeah

  • Saw your Fastrak monitor in the windshield. I've been driving that bridge every day for almost 28 years. Cool video.
