@wildhippy I'm from Philly, I'm 14, and I know a lot about hockey, so dont think I dont know who Dryden, Plante, and The espositos were lol, I get amde fun at school for knowing that much. But Of course I would liek parent, it was close, but Tretiak was better, not alot better, but closely better, Tretiak= BEST ALL TIME

Thank you for the uploads. Tretiak was as technically sound as you could get. Would he be as good in the NHL? Who knows, he can only be judged on where and when he played; and he was damn good. Spasiba.

Phil Espositio said Tretiak was a stiff. And if Phil Espositio says so, I agree.

I think Dryden would say that too. The book "The Game" by Dryden is a tremendous insight on Hockey. I grew up loving Dryden but learned later that he wasn't the best. But after reading that book I gained a new appreciation for him. He talked about two situations for goalies, the great goalie on a average or good team that wins some games with his "head standing" and the good goalie on a great team whose main job is to not lose the game on bad goals. He was both in his career.

Vledislav Tretiak was the best goalie in the world in 1980, after the Soviet coach put him on the bench during the Miracle on Ice USA went on a scoring streak. If Tretiak had been left in between the pipes USA very well could have lost.

@mulker47 I've always wondered that. Myshkin was good, but never as good as Tretiak.

@wildhippy Your comment could have been written by me. I remember that nite. Dryden was my hero and I could not understand why he looked so....ordinary that nite. The first time he played was in the 71 stanley cup, when he totally stoned the Bruins in the first round and the Canadiens went on to beat the North Stars and then the Blackhawks in the final.

@PManning102 If Dryden had given up 3 goals in the third period and lost this game he would have been hung. Most over rated of all time. Like Phil Esposito said the man was a sieve. Kmcinnis

If Canada had a two goal lead after two periods and Dryden gave it away while lying on his back would you call him a god? Most over rated of all time.

Got this game on DVD.
i beleve tat Russia had the best goalies for everything! Lev Yashin for football and Vladislav Tretiak for hockey! its pretty cool! :)

I was a Montreal Canadians super fan growing up and I HATED the Red Army team and vladislav tretiak - then one of the news years eve games when I was not even 10 I think I saw this guy play so well it was art in motion. I had to admit he was the best I've seen by being WAY better than my hero Dryden. Opened my mind in many ways having been forced to admit that the Russians had skill and may not be the Devil incarnate.
