  • Thanks for the tip, I will keep it in mind. I'm still having problems even getting that E out at all on my flute. I have trouble with E-Fsharp. I can get G-D above that. The F and F sharp come out in tune, but not cleanly. And the E just never wants to come out at all for me barely. Do you have any tips for me on how to reach that note? Do I roll in, do I roll out? Do I blow harder than the D below it or not as hard? I'm just really having trouble with it and it frustrates me.

  • @genmaximus110 It sounds like you need to take your flute to a reputable repair person and have it checked.

  • this is GREAT! thanks so much!! :D

  • How about a C above the staff? Myself and others agree that it's a most God-awful note and always seems pitchier than any other note even if your flute is in tune.

  • I have to wonder, why teach the note with the right hand pinky down in the first place? Reminds me of Bb... somehow, after playing for a few years, I got it in my head that using the left thumb Bb was easier/more convenient in most cases. Went all through HS doing it that way. got yelled at when I got to college, with no explanation as to why the other way was better.

  • omg that was the note i was having troubles with...wow!:)

  • People having trouble with a high F#, make sure your thumb isn't on the alternate B-flat key(the left one) and make sure it is on the B key. That should help the F#.

  • Didnt help me tht well! but thnks anyways! ur rlly good:)

  • omg! thanksss! i have this try out tomorrow for flute and i couldnt ever play it correctly!! (:

  • @smartiey2 interesting perspective :) i dont know if mastering a closed hole flute is really all that important,

ive been playing for 3 years almost 4 now and when i learned about the open hole caps i just practiced them in band class(had it every day) without 1 cap at a time, waiting weeks before taking another one out so i could get used to covering the holes completely and i found it was very easy to do for every key except the very last key on the right hand, that one took some time

  • Thanks for the tip.. but i think the High E is not perfectly "in tone" if i do like you said...

  • @KYRA5682 In short, whenever you are personally prepared (consult your music teacher perhaps?).
