  • You need to go into the details on the guitar, not just a riff/spec rundown. What is the actual craftsmanship like? Take some parts off, see how its finished overall.. check out the bits you cant normally see. The nut, truss rod, fret finish, wiring? The info you provide is no real benefit.

Also isn't getting together with them kinda making the review biased? You should review an off the shelf one to get a production sample.

  • @tehsimo Hey man. I appreciate you checking in as always. Bias would be me telling you to go buy this guitar, b/c it's the greatest guitar ~ and I'm not saying that. Guitar (to me) is art. If you like it, awesome. If not - there's something else out there that may suit you better. Me - I'm telling the story on it. I went to NAMM. I met over 100 manufacturers. They all know me by name. Does that make me biased? Trust me - if there was something wrong - I would have let you know.

  • @lmsjr biased was perhaps unfair, but a different experience as they built that one specifically for you, rather than you picking one up from a store and taking them to task on a random sample.

At least what I would like to see is some nice high quality photos of the guitars so people can see for themselves the fretwork etc. So we can see sloppy paint jobs/scratched up clear coats. i.e. 100% coverage.

I plan to do that with my RAN Custom VS Bernie Rico Custom in a month or so.

  • @tehsimo actually - they didn't built it for me. In fact - not to tell a lie, Jeff was wanting to send me something newer than what he sent - and I insisted on a guitar he just had laying around. I am NOT high maintenance when it comes to axes!! BTW - you want an unbiased opinion - I just received a ESP LTD Gus-200 and the fretjob SUCKS!! It has an 'inspected in USA' sticker on the back, meanwhile the frets are cutting my fingers apart!! Catch u ltr. Thx for the chat. BTW - Ricos are awesome!

  • @tehsimo As for truss rod, nut - that's a little outside the scope of my reviews. I'm big on the little guys. See - magazines don't tell these kind of stories, unless they get ad dollars. Look at my website, and tell me if you see an ad from Halo. You don't. So, this is about as unbiased as you'll get. Plus - the fact that I told you I am working w/ them is me keeping it honest & REAL. No smoke & mirrors, no lies from me. I have nothing to hide tehsimo and have no hidden agenda. Thx!

  • Nice sounding axe there TK, cool review. I like the fact that it is certainly a different body style and the finish really pops. Pretty cool too that they've got the discount and the giveaway worked out with you. Keep on rockin' there in the Lounge-cheers!

    Mike

  • pretty cool, love the super heavy tone that isn't too muddy

  • I just got off the Phone with Jeff Lee, There are other companies out there (Carvin) doing the "build out' thing, I must say that by comparison, Jeff seemed genuinely interested in getting me what I really wanted in the guitar. I am specific and I had 20 questions that I just puked all at once.. he never flinched, winced or backed up.. he was totally professional gave great advice (I played dumb just to check his credibility) and when it was done I ordered a 24 fret spalted tele, I'm Psyched !

  • @frontlinecustom Does it play drop tones good like Inflames, Slipknot etc?

  • Im kinda really liking this guitar you should do a review of the 7 string version. I just started getting into playing drop B and A. Or is a company such as schecter or esp better? I dont play much metal but when I do I want a 7 string ax to play it. You should do a 7 string comparo? Give the new metal heads a guitar shoot out.

  • Tone King! What does this sound like with the stock PU's?

  • LAME

  • cool

  • I just got My Reaper 7 string Baritone...Cool bit of gear. I like it alot. I got an SG, and a Punk/grunge chinese copy....But the Halo has the coolest tones.

  • should i get a halo SATYR or should i get a Guerilla custom shiv? which one is best for brutal death metal? and also, with halo guitars, are they good quality? if i get one will it last me for at least a decade without falling apart? or will it fall apart in a year?
