http://vawt.tk or http://www.wrapwind.com vawt vertical axis wind turbine hawt green.

this vid is to show the silo or funnel part of the fawt, many steps ahead.
in my original plans this part was supposed to be a funnel, it was very dificult to make, it was very expensive to buy it custom made.
so octigon is the best next thing, minor modification but i am hoping for the same result.
next step is to build the "Y" wall.
note: some emailed me to say not to waste my time and money, i say no thanks i will build it and will see then, i hope they are wrong...lol..and if they are correct then i will remove the fawt project.
regards
FAWT SILO is a fixed axis wind turbine but it uses lift based props, i have playing with this idea for few years now in my head, i decided to give it a go, it is at the begining stages and there alot of mods still to be done. the idea is to take the air from horizontal to a downward direction and at the same time is to totally hide the proppeler from view.
i am hoping and predicting that it will be 60% effecient VS the HAWT.
the first step is to build one 4 times as big where the top and bottom defflectors will be 4 feet in width.

i hope you enjoy this video and not shoot me down as much. think diffrent......

  • i feel sorry for you. you can't just catch wind. you have to invite it in by giving it someplace to go. you've essentially just built a big dam. wind moves in the direction of least resistance... it will find another direction... something i recommend for you.

  • dont feel sorry, i am having great time finding solutions. i do agree that the wind will find another way.

the direction that i have for myself is fine, few pumps, but i will end up in the same place even if i did nothing.

  • Is the plant to trap the wind in the center and then to the sides?....Sounds interesting but I found a lot of different options on the A Better Energy Plan website

  • it is just an idea that i had, it works but it needs alot of work. not practical.

  • Here, thanks Emagnets and Muddymuddymuddmann was born a new type of turbines operating at the expense of heating and the complete absence of wind. It remains to be consolidated with the VAWT to increase the range of the latter.

  • thanks Shabarchin, i do understand the reason for the black painting. "heat rises".

but to flip it now is a big job, maybe next spring. i am working on diffrent blade sizes and design and i am having promissing success.

    thanks

  • This may be way off mark, but looking at these VAWT's, I wonder if those huge cooling towers, commonly seen near nuclear power plants, could be used as the outer shell of a gigantic (!) VAWT.

    Just a thought...
