Just watched this movie. I didn't reckon much to it really - nothing I hadn't seen before. Stunk of Cloverfield and somehow AVP:R... Cliche little kid for the lead - very Spielberg esqe yadda yadda. Would only give it a 6/10 mostly for the great acting of the kids! It's the grown-ups that made it I worry about.

I don't know how people cannot see this movie as a perfect film... This was honestly one of the best movies I've seen in years! I like how it takes all the separate random elements ie. joe and his dad losing his mom, kids making a zombie movie, the romance between joe and alice (no, im not a pedophile, btw), the military hunting an alien wanting to go home, the impasse between joe & alice's dads, etc. and meshes it all into one beautiful story.
bravo jj abrams, youve earned my deep respect!

12 out of 5. In fact, the only "predictable" part about it was that Joe was gonna let go of his mom's necklace and that the alien was inside the train. Oh, and that they train would explode - we saw that in the teaser.
