Here's something I often tell my students when they think a certain playing level is out of reach:

No one can jump over a 10 feet wall. But anyone can climb over it using a ladder. Keep that in mind and you will be able to reach any level you want.

You should study the theory to the guitar you learned. Watch what you are doing,

1) Playing Eminor and fixing a church mode with the bass

2) Alternating octaves

3) Using these techniques making an extensive verse bridge and independent chorus.

4) Switching the church mode, by strumming a new bass.

The new church mode dictates the aggression of the melody. I might use a capo and use G minor. G minor is the normal singing sound.
