Lyrics:There was a moon out in space
But a cloud drifted over it's face
You kissed me and went on your way
The night we called it a day
I heard the song of the spheres
Like a minor lament in my ears
I hadn't the heart left to pray
The night we called it a day
Soft through the dark
The hoot of an owl in the sky
Sad though his song
No bluer was he than i
The moon went down stars were gone
But the sun didn't rise with the dawn
There wasn't a thing left to say
The night we called it a day
There wasn't a thing left to say
The night we called it a day

  • A pox on you, Elvis Costello!!!!!

  • Her neat chordal interpretation syncopation is her improv between 3.45 to 4.09.

    Cool!

  • Well, inspite of a previous poster's comments about Diana cutting whole notes

or sustained notes short, that's her style. She is known as a jazz pianist and

lots of jazz musicians are not trained singers to carry notes and interpret

lyrics with notation and rests where they should be. Jazz is opening on the theme of the piece, the intro and verses, and into the improv. Nice smoky jazz voice, styling for this piece is great. Nice chord syncopation in her improvisation

    in the mid part.

  • @swillhite2002 I get so bored trying to listen to her recordings but I found her captivating live. A talented musician, great at improvising, and the emotion of her performance seemed genuine rather than mildly correct.

  • --"But the sun didn't rise with the dawn...".....-nothing was cooperating! BUMMER--for Real!!!!!!

  • I think she has a lovely voice, so ..... smoky .... but that is the beauty of art, it is open to interpretation :D

  • REAL MUSICIAN!!

  • GREAT
