@PortalFreak1996 I have. I was just telling him that some loadouts are much worse for this than others. Spear and Mortar was my answer to the new challenges. Well that and using an entirely new set of spirits to optimize damage and healing output in the new situations presented. Many of those choices geared around making potions obsolete because they just weren't as available.

@hockeater activate ALL the idols. no seriously i mean it as soon as you get idols just use all of them. you'll get used to the difficulty and get a lot better and get a whole lot of experience for it
-
@ScFirestorM Try the damage resistance, chance to deflect, and chance to become intangible idols. Trust me the bullets will not do crap. Combine with faster enemies and your life becomes near impossible with that loadout.
-
@hockeater I did have SOME idols on... Not many at all... Just the ones that make the enemy regen hp and drop explosives when they die...
-
@ScFirestorM A fair choice for non idle play I'll admit. With idols though the musket damage goes down to hilarious extremes. Pistols are okay but not as good as a well upgraded mortar with smart choices. This at least was my take after experimentation.
-
@hockeater My basic weapon set is the Dueler Pistols and the Scrap Musket. The pistols were kinda just space fillers as I have both the range upgrades and the upgrade which reduces ranged penalty on it...

@Alex25025 Second off mortar can go over objects in the game world allowing you to shoot from temporary safety quite often. Combine with quick aim upgrade to bomb spam. Combine with better crit chance and double crit damage for profit. Finally extra base damage means this thing hits harder than calamity cannon. Finally immunity to your own bombs upgrade means that unlike calamity cannon it's impossible to kill yourself with this thing.

@Alex25025 You know how much the guy who has beaten the game twice, gotten to maximum level, acquired every weapon, upgraded them all to maximum, bought all the spirits and used a fully upgraded bow before ever touching the mortar cares about when in the story you get a weapon? I'll let you guess. Also increased blast radius. They don't have to be close. Just in the general area. I see that more often than lines. Further mine does more damage and more still with improved crit chance.
-
@hockeater yeah, but bow could pierce through multiple enemies and you could upgrade it to do double damage... nothing would survive that, if enemies lined up you could hit a bunch even if they werent in a tight formation, and u get the mortar pretty late in the game.
-
@Alex25025 To that I say mortar as a ranged weapon. With the right upgrades it's basically as fast, hurts more, will probably hit more enemies, and can be lobbed over that pillar or other piece of scenery you ran behind for a breather. Also melee pike destroys faster and more well armored opponents. Congratulations unless you're using idols you've pretty much trivialized the enemies. Even more so with the right spirits.
@CorrinMovies Rondy always wanted his ashes scattered here...
