@kingpinlwf I have a feeling they were all working together behind the scenes. Syd didn't want the fame, and liked writing new music, rather than performing old music. If you really wanted out of all the fame and attention, but didn't want to pass up on the incredible oppourtunity of having the world hear your music, it would easy to fake insanity. Either way, whether it's true or not, it provides an interesting story/context to the band that will guarantee artistic immortality.
