A urban cohort always destroys a spartan unit. No fair with the bridge. Put a legionary, praetorian or urban cohort vs a spartan unit on a flat terrain ans spartans will get raped. Stop using the bridge just cause you want spartans to win.

I tried it in custom battles and even the pretorians more over the legionary cohort too easily beats a spartan hoplite squad. Only the early leagionaries can't beat them, in 1 to 1 but we haven't talked about the cost of the spartans is1220 denaris, when you can buy two squads of early legionaries and in two to one fight the early legionaries also easily betas the overrated spartans... Spartans are good against cavalary of course, but the armored hoplites are almost the same, for the half cost.

The Spartan Hoplites were allowed to be used to their full potential. The Urban Cohorts didnt even throw their Pila before they charged which is typical of any organized Roman force and expected of the Elite Urban Cohorts. That alone allows Urban Cohorts to deal extreme amounts of damage and Spartan tradition is to wear little armor maybe half the spartan hoplite group wouldve been killed giving the Urban Cohorts the win. Tactics would also stop any general from charging a Phalanx head on.

if u want to see a fair test, tell your friend to control the urban cohorts and u control the spartans.

AI are retarded so when controlling urban cohorts against phalanx units, they dont go into loose formation. and they never make use of urban cohort's mobility. they just try to kill the spartan using brute force which will never happen. because no one can win against spartan hoplites in a direct frontal assault
