  • Not to mention their brazillian arm has the worst customer service ever to offer their services in the land. They don't answer emails, they don't take any criticism, they're not open to our opinions. Tek and Agilent are way, I mean WAY better in this regard. The scope is pretty good, but the company lives in another age.

  • @yanava Wow, sounds like they really need to up their game!

  • 2 dislikes are from Tektronix and Agilent

  • @thewii552 LOL!

  • I dont see the problem with external monitor, all those scopes have USB, just plug in mouse and you can use 32' fullHD TV. It took me whole 3 seconds to come up with this solution, dont they have smart people working for them?

  • 3-5 minutes boot time! damn, windows7, why would you put it on embedded... I know people use it, but.. microsoft isn't the most reliable company in the world

  • @DanFrederiksen Once again, your lack of understanding of measurement uncertainty does not mean that uncertainty doesn't need to be taken into consideration. If you conduct the experiment you suggest, you are quite likely to see variations in readings that are outside of manufacturer specified tolerances. Even small variations in measurements can be significant when the specified precision is high.

  • @rasz I've just had the same thought - why not just plug the mouse ? If it doesn't use multitouch, then using mouse is not an issue. If it uses Windows 7, then the user interface should scale up to the display's native resolution. It should also provide either DVI/HDMI or DisplayPort. Screw shitty VGA connector - nobody uses it nowadays.

  • @spuzzdawg but that's just bullshit of the highest order. crappy technology from 50 years ago may have had dramatic change in behavior during a warm up. that's just not the case with scopes in general.

you can test it. measure a reference signal right off and test again over minute intervals and you report to me how it changes. I'm guessing you wont find anything of consequence but you might well be irrational enough to go look for an old device that does, to avoid learning

  • @DanFrederiksen I don't really disagree with you that a 5-min startup could be improved. But it pales into insignificance considering you shouldn't be using the device within about 30 min anyway.

  • @DanFrederiksen Are you kidding? Go and spend some time working in a cal lab and you'll see what I'm talking about. Unfortunately it seems all too common that electronic engineers have no concept of measurement uncertainty. It's not a myth, it's a fact and it makes perfect sense if you think about it. All electronic component values are effected somewhat by temperature, you should therefore wait for an instrument to reach some sort of steady-state temperature before using it.

  • @spuzzdawg either it works right away or it doesn't work. don't make myths and don't keep them alive.

it's just bad design that it takes 3-5 minutes to start.

  • @DanFrederiksen Sorry - The Rhode & Schwarz oscilloscope shown in the video has a crystal oven as an optional extra instead of a standard. None the less, these are high end scopes and it is best practice to let any high end test equipment run for over 30 minutes before taking a measurement. If 5 minutes makes or breaks your application then you either don't care about the quality of your measurements or you're looking at the wrong level of product.

  • holly crap! I have never see that kind of scopes in my life! Beauty!
