New Library

A virtual fly through the exciting new library extension at NUI Maynooth. Construction started in November 2010 and is due to be completed in late summer 2012. The new library will provide more space for study and collections and will also include many innovative features. For everyone talking about having to cross the main road . . . It's not that bad! Been gone since well before college started and still no accidents!

Looks great, will be a fantastic resource. But from experience at the Queen's University of Belfast's new McClay library- open plan and library DON'T work! Impossible to minimise noise which makes for an unpleasant working environment. It's like these architects have never been in a library!

@22s it shows the horrible disjoint between the two buildings.

Who designed this horrible mess of a building. I understand the design limitations from the existing building but they link between the two is terrible and they don't compliment each other at all!!

Also they seem to have brushed over the crossing over the main road that is going to cause major problems for students crossing who no longer have the safety of the foot bridge.

the ugliest piece of architecture ever seen. To build it, dozens of secular trees have been cut, spoiling Maynooth of one of the very few nice things it had, that nice footbridge starting from the wood. Why not to build it ont the back of the existing library? too cheap? not enogh job for the timberman? Not only, now thusands of students will cross trafficated Kilcock road every day. seems me someone is looking for an accident! crazy!

I'm so confused... At 0:35 is that the current library building behind the new building? Are they just pushing it back? haha...

But yeah it looks cool but as long as they keep the bicycle posts, O'Brian's, and that deadly black lady who works in O'Brian's, I'm not complaining haha
