Claire Wineland, 13, filmed this just before returning to ICU once again. Claire has a heightened awareness of life, which clearly comes across in this video, as she talks about the importance of goals. In her life, she lives and breathes the advice she gives.

Claire was born with Cystic Fibrosis. She has survived dozens of surgeries and more hospitalizations than she can count. Last year she survived 17 days in a coma on full life support. Since recovering from her coma, Claire has traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, and most recently fulfilled her biggest mission... spreading joy in a Flash Mob in Santa Monica, California (raising over $24,000 to help families dealing with Cystic Fibrosis).

Through all of her challenges, Claire is inspired, passionate, and excited about making a difference to others by sharing her experience, strength and hope with them. Claire has recently suffered many setbacks but maintains a positive attitude and believes this is the key to living a fulfilling life - despite being burdened with such a deadly disease. For now, Claire intends to continue on her mission to spread joy and help other kids find their purpose.

**** 6/09/11 UPDATE - After being in the hospital for 3.5 weeks Claire is out of the hospital again!

  • @godfrey259 You know, maybe you just keep believing. Maybe you just have a little faith. I wouldn't come close to understanding your situation. I have been blessed all my life to never have an illness that is that terribly restricting. I just say, keep believing. Stay strong, and stay positive. Look on the bright side. Don't focus on what you can't do, focus on what you can do, and find alternatives. Find an alternative dream. You can still have a passion for the army, but build a new dream.

  • I'm 34 and have fibromyalgia since I was 13; this video was great to watch; like a shot of enthusiasm for dealing with my own stuff. rock on Claire!

  • Tears are running down my cheeks, I just turned 38, you are an inspiration to everyone, keep up the fight and live life to the fullest. God Bless you...

  • i have cf too. im 25 .. and all my dreams and things i really want to do i cant do because cf steals your physical capabilities and you cant join the military with cf.

you cant have good endurance with cf . you cant gain much weight with cf.. so how do you stay positive when the things or dreams you really want is not realistic.

  • YOU'RE AMAZING!!

  • This is so amazing. Claire, you are an absolute inspiration. Thank you for sharing.
