Heather Paul lives in Wesley Chapel, a Florida neighborhood prone to sinkhole activity. When the Paul family purchased their home in late 2010, it showed subtle signs of repaired exterior cracking. After they pulled up the carpet in their daughter's bedroom, however, they realized they had a potentially larger problem on hand. A large crack had formed in the slab and extended all the way across her room and into the next room. This, along with cracked floor tiles in their kitchen, noticeable separation of the wall and ceiling joints on the lanai, and exterior cracking of the stucco prompted a call to their homeowners insurance company.

An adjustor from Citizens Property Insurance Corporation came to the home. Once she reviewed the damage, the adjustor recommended that testing be performed to determine if sinkhole activity was present at the site. Andreyev Engineering, Inc. (AEI), was called in to perform the testing. AEI's scope of service consisted of a site inspection, Ground Penetrating Radar, Standard Penetration Test Borings, hand auger borings, and a floor elevation survey. Their findings satisfied the requirements set forth in Florida Statue 627.707 for sinkhole activity. AEI recommended compaction grouting to improve the weak soil conditions and reduce the potential for future erosion.
Mrs. Paul chose Helicon Foundation Repair after meeting with Helicon's project specialist, Rich Kay, and finding Helicon listed A+ with the Better Business Bureau. She felt even more comfortable having Helicon work around her house after learning that all Helicon employees are thoroughly screened to identify and eliminate any security or safety risks.
Now that her home has been stabilized, Mrs. Paul not only feels safer but also feels that the value of her home has increased.
Project notes: AEI estimated the repair would require 26 grout injection points, 1170 linear feet of injection pipe, 225 cubic yards of grout.
Actual Project Totals
26 Grout Injection Points
1215 Linear Feet of Injection Pipe
147 Cubic Yards of Compaction Grout
Helicon Foundation Repair completed this job in 8 days
