Obviously you don't know kung fu. I've studied longfist / mantis styles for over 12 years and it is a ton more effective than it looks. The problem is when you watch the forms they don't make sense unless you know how to apply them in real combat situations.

To everyone criticizing this, this are forms. The techniques of kung fu are hidden in those, so as to keep the style a secret from others in the old days. Each move you see there has a real life application, most of the time it has multiple uses. In application, they don't look as stylized but rather use the hand motions or core of the move to defend or attack. If you just don't think these guys can fight, just try to fight one, you'll be sorry.

@exiled68 Actually, its quite the contrary. Kung Fu uses a lot of techniques with the hands and targets body parts that are illegal to attack in tournaments (eyes, throat, groin, nerve strikes), so in tournaments a lot of its techniques are taken away. It still works though. In the street, one is free to use any of those devastating moves. Kung Fu is a martial art, not a combat sport like kick boxing, and thus it was made to be used in real life. 4000 years old, can't be wrong mate.

@modernmartialartist These martial arts aren't really effective to begin with. Perhaps in a tournament setting, yes, but in a self-defense... Not so much. :]

It might not look good as the new contemporary Wushu does, but it's more effective.
