I was asked to respond becasue of my knowledge of Korea, and because I taught English there for 2 years. Thank you, Shordan, for the request! This is a HUGE issue in Korea, and it's not covered at all in the US. Even some American friends I have still teaching in Korea don't know about these protests becasue they don't watch Korean media.

EDIT: I meant to say, "Cows over 30 months," NOT 30 years. Still, it's an inappropriately long time.

Korea should not ratify the FTA with the U.S. One important issue Koreans should be aware of concerns the U.S. farm exports to Korea - American beef is practically inconsumable due to the usage of growth hormones administered to Am. beef and the fact that corn, which is not a natural part of a cow's diet, is used to feed Am. cows. Watch "The World According To Monsanto" to get a better idea of how corrupted the FDA can be. Watch the documentary "King Corn" too. Protect Korea's domestic market!

There is NO North-south animosity; the situation exists at the bequest of the US. So, IF the US military goes there will be no real need for defense against the North. In South Korea, a democratic country in which I live, there is no fear nor animosity towards thew north. That is simply a contrivance of the US MEDIA!
