In this video you can see the first swimming tests of the MicroAUV2.
The MicroAUV2 is a FPGA based miniature AUV. It is designed as mobile platform for
underwater image processing algorithms. It is actuated by three thrusters which are turnable by 180 degrees. An integrated water tank is used for automatic buoyancy. Attitude information is given by a mini IMU. A DSP and the FPGA build the basis for controlling and image processing.

  • FPGAs for mobile applications are no problem these days. The batteries last for roughly 8 hours while driving around.
