Well, from about the age of 8 her mom was giving her drugs to sleep and to wake and perform. She became addicted to them and to drinking and smoking. She was also told she was unattractive from the age of 13 and had self image problems.

She died in London at the age of 47, of accidental drug overdose.

Her voice was beautiful at this time of her life. Later she lost some smoothness due to smoking, but she gained an kind of emotion in her singing that overruled it.

today an autistic kid in my class sang this, and when he got to "where skies are blue" he sand it like "where skies are bluuUuUu" my teacher said he sings it all the time in perfect pitch.
