Band : Tyrannosaurus Rex
Album : My People were fair and had sky in their hair (1968)
Song : Frowning Atahuallpa (My Inca love)
Text reading : John Peel

Movie : The Nine lives of Tomas Katz (2000)
Director : Ben Hopkins

Lyrics:
Sitting all alone, looking at the throne of the one I used to love
Sitting all alone, looking at the stone of my lovely inca love

The huntress stands, with peacock hands she'd take me to where she lie
She sighs so deep, it rocks the river of her stomach sky

The oval moon, it tans the faun who holds grapes for my love
Sitting all alone, sitting in the throne of my lovely inca love

hare krishna

I come from a time where the burning of trees was a crime,
I lived by a sea where to be was a thing of true joy,
My people were fair and had sky in their hair,
But now they're content to wear stars on their brows.

  • the video should ave been shot in S. America with some nice Inca scenes. Bolan screwed up with hare Kristna. he has his continents mixed up .

  • @baldbollocks : mixing continents is very typical of the new age period, but you've got a point. The song has 3 dimensions that only relate on a metaphorical level. I think it is a matter of taste whether you accept it or find it is a flaw.

Still, I doubt a video of nature loving Incans (pun) could capture all those dimensions. Not to mention Incans went extinct some centuries before video devices appear (bis).

I'd rather confess that the video and the J. Peel's reading don't relate.

  • this video had=s NOTHING to do with the Inca's as the song was. So a ridiculous interpretation

  • @baldbollocks : Hahaha! Thanks for saying. I expected you for some time.

What exactly do you dislike in the 9 Lives of T. Katz / Frowning Atahuallpa parallel?

I gladly agree that it is far stretched, but the basic reason for the video is that both the movie and the song are about a "lost world". Atahuallpa is the last Incan king who remembers his lost lover and people. Tomas Katz brings nothingness to XXIst century London, erasing all that has been. I like the irony behind Gehena/Hare Krishna.

  • @ivycompton

    I Ditto that!

  • Since when do music videos have anything to do with the music?

  • @TWD66 Bolan screwed up with what? With the jamming and his marvelous blabbering?Oh, please. Spare the continents and the long-haired. Talk about poor criticism and shallow commentaries. HARE HARE HARE INCA INCA INCA KRISHNA. Neanderthal.

  • @TWD66 Please, explain this song to me. I will listen.

  • Someone needed to teach Marc the second part of the mantra, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare, but at least he almost sings the first part right

  • We love Marc Bolan for unique, haunting melodies like this that break your heart and transport you at the same time. He is so missed.

Thanks for posting this masterpiece with a thoughtful video accompaniment!
