The politics over the toxic ship, Platinum II is getting murkier. NewsX has learnt that ship is all set to be dismantled at the anchorage pointin Bhavnagar, Gujarat.
In a major victory for the environment and workers in developing nations the dumping of old ships, often containing tonnes of toxic trash, has now been controlled under international law. This should mean an end to toxic horrors such as workers sorting asbestos with their bare hands on open beaches in Asia.
The France was still intact, in the background. Some of those other ships hardly look old. It would seem that if India really cared about its workers, it would find a safer way to take apart these ships.
