Strega Nona is disappointed to see Big Anthony return from the village empty-handed. She asks Big Anthony to go tell everyone that there will be no feast tonight. As Strega Nona prepares to go to Mass she hears the travelling shepherds, the Zampognari, singing in the gathering night. Based on the book by Tomie dePaola. Adapted for the stage by Thomas W. Olson.
