Testing the new Elgato Eyetv Hybrid I just got. This is footage from 'Gears Of War'.

NOTE: I did have problems with lag. You cannot directly connect the xbox to the adapter for the computer; when recording, it creates serious 2-3 second lag. I just used the pelican A/V selector box i had, and ran two outputs; One to my TV (To play in Real Time, and one to the computer for recording.

FAQ
- I use the elgato software to capture that came with the Hybrid TV convertor; The app. is called EyeTV

- (Problems with uploading to YouTube) I recommend exporting the EyeTV file to what best suits YouTube (Mpeg-4?)

  • For those who are wondering how to deal with the lag, it's simple. If you have a AV cable which has both HD and Standard cables, just plug the visual HD cable in your TV and then the 3 standards into the recorder. Although you have to play in black and white its the best way to get capture (but im not sure about 60Hz games because i have PAL-60 so i cant record games like Halo3).

    -Hoping this helps

  • This ^^^ Would work. What I do to capture is run the xbox AV Cables into a multi-platform box (mine is a small Pelican). Then I run two outputs from there; One to the TV, and one to the computer. You can then play in full quality on your TV, and also record at full quality. (No lag)

  • i just ordered mine how would you rate the graphics on a scale of 1 to 10

  • for live steam, 8; but if you record something, its a definite 9.5 - If you watch this video in high quality, you can see how great the audio and video becomes. Also, look up the Super Mario 64 Walkthrough videos (not mine). I believe those were used with a elgato.

  • Does the game lag without recording? Like, how does it run just normally?

Also, how is the picture? Same as an analog TV? Better? Worse?

  • there is no lag what soever. It only lags when you try to record, but see my info up top for details on that. Picture quality is great. It can all be adjusted in the preferences; NOTE; the picture quality comes out a lot better when you record, rather live, but is still great either way.

  • Where can I buy this Pelican A/V selector box, and would I need another HD cable connecting back to my TV and one connecting to my computer to record in HD? Please help...

  • @tommelling22 I do know for sure, the device lagged for me (pressed a button on the controller, about a second later the function would actually show on the screen) until i checked it off. It's extremely lag free from there. I can record a small tutorial showing you how much it changes with it on/off if you'd like....might just do it anyway regardless :)

  • @jarediscool77 The PS3 is connected to the imac through the eyeTV which basically just converts composite video and audio cables to a USB port.

  • @Voyevoda01 im also wondering if this timeshift checkbox gets rid of lag. do u know for sure that it gets rid of the lag. because, im thinking of buying the eyeTV hybrid, but i need to make sure it has no lag.

  • Did you try running it straight into your computer, and turing off timeshift? Always kills the lag. Also, you can just use iShowU to record the screen....

  • i dont understand are you playing the game on your computer or are you playing on the tv and renderring on the computer

  • So you plug your xbox into the pelican then where do the cables go to view on the tv and record do you need splitters or is the pelican doing that for you?

  • Yeah, just recording causes lag

  • Quick question: when not recording, can you play games from your XBOX 360 to your computer without lag?

  • GEARS OF WAR :)
