This video might be a bit drier than some of my previous ones. It's a lot more of just me talking. Jump ahead to 12:15 if you just want to watch kids building. ;)

This is from one of my afterschool classes that meets once a week. There are 14 second graders (age 7 and 8). I have 90 minutes with them which is twice as long as I usually get during regular classes. Thus, I'm able to go a little slower, do more planning with the kids, answer more questions, and go off on tangents.

This is the first part of a multi-week project. Look for a follow up in the coming weeks.

  • Hi, my name is Zane. I love how you've incorporated minecraft into the class room. I think it's a great way to teach kids how to be creative and learn cooperation skills. Although I'm feeling you've forgoten one very important Minecraft skill. Architecture. If architecture was involved, I feel like kids would feel a larger ammount of success in what they build and learn. I've built many things in minecraft that have been recognized by important Minecrafters, even the Minecraft Monday show.

I thought the kid said bomb...

  • I must say even though i call myself an experienced minecraft player the kids teamwork seems to out do my building skills. I usually make a box before adding rooms, which makes it much harder. These guys made the outline of the rooms before adding the ceiling which is a much better way

  • @TheINZANE101 you have to realize that their only 7 or 8
