This is my knife work. I am no where near, anywhere near, or at all comparable to knife experts, Martial Arts experts such as Jack Othoman, Maul, Paul Vunak or numerous others nor do I EVER say that I am comparable to any such luminaries or experts, this is just a nice video of me having some fun. I like knives, I pretty much always have. Please don't be confused, as one viewer, who E-mailed me has been, by my YouTube username; 'apachewolfscout' it is a honor name; meaning I honor the Apache,' the Wolf and the (Native) Scouts. Similarly, just as with the knife work, when I say "Apache's Capoeira," I do absolutely do NOT mean it is an Apache Indian style! My martial arts lineage is mainly Silat-Capoeira-Kung Fu, in Kung -Fu, especially Tai Chi Chuan-Pa Kua Chang, ( with various other cross-trainings!). 'Apache' here refers to me, as a nickname, it is an honoring of a number of peoples ( collectively reffered to in recent times as 'Apache'.) who I feel very akin to and in deep admiration of, as I feel for quite a few of the Peoples! I have no desire or reason to try and persuade people that this was an Apache (N'Dee) Indian Fighting Style. Non at all. Consider this: an Apache attack helicopter, similarly is not trying, nor are it's makers, or anyone, trying to pretend, it was made or designed by the Apache Indian People! I may or may not have made a mistake nicknaming myself for YouTube "ApacheWolfScout' but Great Spirit is my witness it was done with no ill will, intentions and with a good heart in deep admiration of a people who made one of the longest bravest fights for the ways of life, land annd traditions that they were born into and who had incredible skills, super admirable ceremonies and beliefs and many outstanding People, men, Woman and Children...If I have unintentionally upset anyone thus, I sincerely apologise. I am sorry; but : I do know my heart, my honor, my understanding, my study, my failings, shortcomings: Great Spirit-Ussen- our Earth and all the Spirits watching know also, which is something no other human does-only a few teachers of exceptional skill glimpse that, and that is my good fortune and hard work. So I am sorry but as the saying goes "You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time!" Thus I work or Ussen-Great Spirit, our Earth, Sun, Creation, the Plants and Trees, the Creatures...and for the Benefit of Humans overall, but not for the disikes and likes of anyone. I work to my best ability according to my own heart and understanding, which as anyone who genuinely goes to meet Life knows is not always easy and is bound to contain many mistakes!
Back to knives; Seriously. Knife laws are not to be messed with. Remember an accident training with live knives, especially if you are not a very capable practitioner of traditional or modern day medical skills can be lethal. Some wounds nowhere near the torso even, can be extreamly difficult to stem. What a shame to kill someone in training! In Silat, the possibility of death during training was always recognised. In short, 'real training,' is hard and can be deadly! On going to your teacher, you had to present them with a death shrowd to be used for your body should you die/be killed during training!
P.s. You can see me as part of the process of making my own knife set in Surakarta East Java in "Upside Down Knife-Sword making." Making your own knife is a highly rewarding process for anyone who uses knives in whatever context, I highly recomend it; you could also end up with not only a great knife made to your specifications, but also with a new understanding, hobby or who knows, even profession! Good luck!
