Elle est celle qui a enregistré un album en duo avec Chick Corea et réalisé un disque co-produit par Ahmad Jamal. Cette pianiste japonaise est brillante et virtuose, impressionnante de technique et dingéniosité. Elle mêle habilement jazz, classique et fusion, standards et airs traditionnels japonais.
Si Hiromi est à peine connue en France, sa réputation nest plus à faire dans son pays natal où elle a vendu 100 000 disques (Another Mind - 2003). Best Jazz Act aux Boston Music Awards, Jazzman of the Year, Pianist of the Year et Album of the Year pour le Swing Journal Japans pour son disque Spira, enregistré en 2006. Rien que ça!
