The Amtrak Capitol Limited eastbound #30 arrives at the Rockville station for a scheduled stop and then moves on - next stop, Washington D.C. Another dreary overcast day but a lot of train time in the clip. Shot through one of the diamond-shaped openings in a large iron fence on a pedestrian bridge maybe 600 yards away from the station - Sony CX500V handheld demonstrates stabilization fighting both the full 12x zoom and arm fatigue by the end of the clip. There's also a stray subway (Metro) train in the clip as the two stations are side-by-side.

  • Yes, it's really impressive. WIth my CX12, I would have used about 3/4 of the range (9x). This is pretty solid right out to the 12x - most of the shaking you'll see was arm fatigue. The train was 20 minutes late and comes around that curve with no warning.

The dancing green light was a reflection off my clear filter lens, I think. I've only seen that one other time - with an HC7 photographing the Potomac River at Great Falls on a bright day.

  • The stabilization works well at full zoom.
