No Music - No Distracting Narration - Just screaming pistons in full stereo sound

Living Warbirds: Steel Warriors puts you on the tarmac so you can see, hear, and feel the fierce power of these magnificent warbirds: the roar of the engines starting, closeups of the beautifully restored aircraft, takeoffs, multiple flybys, and landings.

From World War I and World War II, to every other major conflict of the 20th century, victory would not have been possible without the most advanced fighting machines of their time. In battles over Europe, African, Asia, and the Pacific, fighter planes like the P-51 Mustang and bombers like the B-29 Superfortress carried and protected our brave men and women. After their missions were complete, most of these warbirds were neglected and abandoned. A few survived, lovingly restored by warbird enthusists around the world. Living Warbirds: Steel Warriors features these historic airplanes in all of their glory, reminding us of the critical roles they played in the greatest wars of our time.

  • You missed the most cool take off and specially the landing shots... it's an amazing plane...

  • @Nfarce Yeah, that's right, same same. I especially like the part where the Zero driver adapted and got slow where Tomcat is clumsy....and the actual F-14 stalled for real and dropped like a rock towards the ocean. In a real war, the Zero would have double backed on him and ran some stitches down his underbelly. ;)

  • @JetMechMA - One of my favorite aviation related movies of all time. I especially loved the Tomcats pawing at the Zeroes like a cat with a mouse toy right before they blew them out of the sky. You did see the same movie I saw (many times), right?

  • @Nfarce: Either way, the Bearcat, like any other prop aircraft of the time, would have been owned by a jet. That's just pretty basic knowledge.

JM: I wouldn't bet my life on that. Ever see the movie "Final Countdown" where F-14s dogfight WW2 Japanese Zeroes? I believe that whoever choreographed the flight scenes did an authentic job of simulating a dogfight between an F-14 and a Zero. The Zero pilot adapts rapidly and uses his strengths against the F-14's weaknesses.

  • @JetMechMA - Uhm, easily rivaled the jet fighters of the day? What day would that be? The 1950s when jet fighters like the F-86 Sabre Jet first came out or the 1970s when F-4 Phantoms were king? I'm curious. Either way, the Bearcat, like any other prop aircraft of the time, would have been owned by a jet. That's just pretty basic knowledge.

  • if Anna Nicole Smith had wings that is what she would look like

  • @nrborod I saw a demo once with the F8F Bear Cat and he OWNED the sky. This was back in the '70s. As you said, he wasn't holding back AT ALL. He wasn't trying to preserve his old war bird....he gave it all she had to give. It was spectacular. I'd say he easily rivaled the jet fighters of the day.

  • @0311RFLMN Oh, they did a model of the P-40 like that. They called it "The P-51". ;)

  • Incredible. The F7 straight on shot - how skinny! I'd hate to have to fly one with an engine out.

  • every time i see a p40 tommahawk i always think of how much better and faster and badder it could have been with a rrmerlin.anyone of you afficinados outther think this would have turned this great plane to a superior fighter.picture this plane highly refined with rrmerlin pressurised cockpit and bubble canopy.ya think?
