Esa-Pekka Salonen and Peter Sellars's Tristan und Isolde, with video art by Bill Viola, was premièred in Los Angeles in 2004 and has subsequently been revived in Paris and New York to great acclaim. Esa-Pekka Salonen and the Philharmonia Orchestra bring the production to the UK and other European venues, and this exclusive behind-the-scenes footage shows just how complex a production this is.

@TimsLimbs the screen goes from landscape to portrait for the third act.

A highly auspicious task to put recorded video to live music, a hard task but one that appears to be very fruitful. Is it just me, or does the screen flip between portrait and landscape? Very interesting.
