This is arguably my mother's favorite piano piece. Many of the second movements of Beethoven's sonatas are among the most mournful and wonderful in all of piano music. This is a prime example of the mesmerizing effect that Beethoven's music can have on others. In the words of Siegbert Tarrasch, one of the strongest chess players of the early 20th century, "Chess, like love, like music, has the power to make men happy."

  • I think music is one of the things that best shows the wide range of emotions that humans are capable of expressing. Within the same piece, you can feel the highest of excitement and happiness, and the lowest depths of grief and hardship. In any case, although I am far from a connoisseur, I think it's an excellent rendition as always! As many times as you must have played it, you put the same amount of yourself into the song each time you press the keys. Brings me back to NRHS days. =)

  • John, I agree with you wholeheartedly. One does not have to be a connoisseur in order to appreciate music. In fact I believe that it is the layman which holds the best, objective, and sincerest opinion as to whether a piece of music is well done or not. For his assessment is made not subjectively through the plethora of musical dogma thereby rendering it partial, but through the unbridled emotional center whereto music undeniably lays its affect. Thank you for the kind compliment. :)

  • Thank you for your kind words. It is one of the pieces my mother always asks me to play when she visits me. Very appropriate for mother's day. :)

  • excellently played

  • Thank you. Everytime I play it,I am reminded of how happy it makes my mother feel which in turn increases my delight. Beautiful music is a gift the gods have bestowed upon us in order that we may better enjoy the exquisiteness of life.
