In this short video series we will explore the basics of setting up an alternate energy system. What each component does, how it functions and it's place in an off grid system. Designed specifically for the homesteader or survivalist, this video is designed to help get you started on your road to energy independence!

No matter what your preparing for: nuclear war, terrorism, economic collapse, market crash, food shortages, famine, etc. Having a working Alternate energy system can help greatly around your homestead or survival retreat.

There is one section of this video that has poor lighting, this could not be helped. If your looking for Spielberg cinematography, you came to the wrong place! We know the lighting is bad in that part, no need for immature comments regarding this. If you don't like, don't watch!

  • Not to be a wet blanket but,

Like a moth attracted towards a light bulb, fire that thing up in an urban area and you become an instant celebrity, and community center.. complete with stalkers.. you really want that much attention drawn towards you?.. Also, an EMP will render all of this useless,

  • Some folks aren't ANYWHERE near urban areas or masses of system dependent people. That's Rule #1 and the best rule for your survival :) Highly unlikely EMP would affect the diesel genset, which is why that's a key part of the system. Inverter, charge controllers, panels yes would likely go. You can always keep spares though. People need to realize that with a battery bank, you are NOT running your genset constantly. I can charge our bank from the genny in a very short period of time.

  • that is a small diesel. at work we use 3 900 kw inline 8s.

  • It's a 12KW Hardy/China diesel. It's more than enough for our needs.

  • very nice video. all the info is correct and accurate. for the size of the geny set i would put 5-6kw as the best size watercooled is a bonus(can easily be converted to make hotwater at no extra fuel cost)

a gasoline system could also be easily modified to run on woodgas. iam at the mo looking for a small watercooled 4 stroke with 5kw for a 2nd genset to run on woodgas and drive a asyncrongenerator

  • what wattage was the solar panels?

  • I think you can put shielding up for an EMP attack on the inverter and batteries...the panels might get fried....I'd rather have it than not...I have net-zero solar home and system...

  • LMAO! I already have THREE set up! Want to come to camp 1, 2 or 3? Conspiracy folks need to get past always focusing on the bogey man and focus on what they can do to make sure their family survives. Their is ALWAYS a reason not to prepare, not to do anything. The "man" might come and get you, so don't put back food. Then you just starve like the rest of the idiots out there. Tin foil folks need to take off the foil and actually prepare.

  • findout from the side of your Refigerator what would be the max load in amp /watts then on the safe side double it to find out How many 75 watt solar panels at Harbor Frieght or something from e-bay but it should be about 8 of them

  • An EMP can only effect the equitment that is running at the time of the 6 second spike but extra spark plugs and other Diesel parts can be replace if needed

Bio-diesel has fewer parts can broke down

  • during Andrew It was 14 family members on the smallest peice of land and 3 bedroom 2 bath we lost five Family homes in Homestead Fla.

  • you are correct, A FEW people arent anywhere near urban areas( including myself ). whats more HIGHLY UNLIKELY is the people currently enjoying life away from the masses would continue their quiet independence from the masses. can you picture TENS OF MILLIONS on the move? that #1 rule means nothing when SHTF..But I digress... Nice little setup, it would be perfect for a power outage, nice convenience... but useless when SHTF. how many refugees camps will fit on your property?
