Nick Cutroneo performing Andante in A minor by Ferdinando Carulli. This piece can be found in Carulli's Method. Depending on the method it is either piece No. 7 or 18.
I've decided to put up a pieces that students have either worked on previously or are currently working on. This first piece is a very famous student level piece by Carulli. During his life, Carulli wrote many small student level pieces designed to work on introducing/reinforcing technique and musical ideas. In "Andante" the student has to combine the 'Bass/Chord' (Boom/Chick) technique with alternating free-stroke scales in the A section. In the B section, the student has a melody with an alberti bass accompaniment. I use this piece to help a student become comfortable with this change in textures.
The purpose of this video series is to give the student recordings that they can listen to regularly to become familiar with the music they are playing. I plan on adding to this set of "student pieces" as time goes on. Please check back for updates on further videos (as well as concert videos).
