I remember when I first encountered super mutants in this game. I didn't know that i'd see so many of them so far in the game, so i let my assault rifle stay broken. I saw super mutants and tried to shoot them, but i realized my assault rifle was still broken, and i didn't think that a shotgun would do much since i couldn't get close to them without getting killed, but i finally decided "Screw it, i'm goin' shotgun on their asses". then i died.

the best way to get through the tunnels is to have a wp and just use the cheat tcl to go straight toward it
