Worst. Tactics. Ever.

I've read a lot of articles and books, watched a lot of dvd's and videos, took some classes and I'm no expert, but this has got to be the worst tactical knife defense technique I've ever seen. The left hand/arm used a sheild, the crouched stance...everything. I've never been in a knife fight, but I'm pretty sure that they don't go down like this guy would lead you to believe. Ridiculous and totally laughable.

Even if your "attacker" will play this game with you, a few well placed cuts to your "sacrificial arm" will permanently mess you up. There are lots of tendons and veins in there, and by using this "technique" you are pretty much saying "Here, have at it!" This is one of the worst things you could do in an actual fight, right next to punching yourself in the balls.

@MrMathsStraightRazor I still haven't gotten that book, but it's still on the list! I tend to lean towards Lynn Thompson's approach, avoiding close quarter at all cost and keeping the fight long to mid range. This guy right here though, he's living in a fantasy world. What attacker is going to stand square in front of you, plant both feet on the ground and just thrust away? Nobody. Plus crouching down, leaning foward and 'sacrificing' an arm? No thanks. I wouldn't want to sacrifice shit.
