I installed Megasquirt on Ray's car (MS1/E-029v code to be specific), wired the instruments, and rewired almost the whole bloody car! The car runs awesome, looks awesome, and won 1st place in "Modified Z-car" at the 2007 All Datsun/Nissan Meet in Vancouver. While I researched how to hook up the RB25DET, Ray did all of the mechanical install of the motor, fab work for the intercooler and exhaust, and prepared all of the typically numerous other little things that take time and attention.

The audio track came from Brant Bjork's fantastic album Jalamanta (NLA & OOP), so go BUY yourself some of Brant's finely crafted music...

  • Is this car in the Vancouver area?? I swear I've seen this car before at a Datsun meet in North Vancouver. My car is going into the shop to get an RB25 or KA24DE. yeah yeah, big differences but I'm an indecisive bast*ard and don't know what my goal is in terms of what I want with my 260Z.

  • Yes it is in the GVRD area. It won best modified Z in the September All Nissan meet two years in a row.

You want a deal-breaker? Stick with the inline six. Sure a KA24 will make lots of power and it will give better weight distribution, and it's lighter, ...but it will never sound as good as even a dog of an inline six, and the RB25 is no dog.

  • Your like the "anti-Ray" Cause Im Ray and my 260Z is Blue with a black hood. At least I didnt megasquirt my RB25 cause that would have just been weird. I am building a MSnS Roadster though. Wish I could tig aluminum. Nice and clean. Maybe if I ever run across the right manifold I will put the Mitsimushi FMIC on mine too.

  • You must be Bizzaro Ray!

The intercooler is an offshore eBay thing, not a Mitsu. It works really well.

The manifold is a Greddy copy, intended for some kind of Skyline. We cut and welded it as seen in the montage (that's right, a montage!)

The MSnS Roadster sounds cool - is it a U20, or did you swap engines to a KA or SR or CA? (or heaven forbid an L-series!)

  • how did you put the usb port in?

  • It's an FTDI-based port
