2/5/09: HOLY SHIT I just realized Seether is available in AudioSwap. BGM is now The Gift, by Seether, which conveniently happens to be 5:35 seconds long.
1/2/09: NOTE ~ There is no longer any audio in this video because Warner Music Group are gigantic faggots and failures at life and they have forced me to remove my shitty Linkin Park background music. Unfortunately YouTube's AudioSwap feature only lets me replace said shitty Linkin Park music with some other crappy public domain tracks. I thought it would allow me to commit further copyright infringement by letting me upload another song from my computer. Sneaky bastards.
7/28/08: lol 54k views, and no real sign of slowing down according to youtube's insight feature. Added some of those dumb little "annotations" to cover up my old website, don't worry I'm not spamming the screen with them like some idiots do. Keep on viewing/favoriting/commenting, thanks.
10/06/07: 31k views, long after I thought this game to be dead, I'm still getting views and comments. Keep them coming guys, thanks. If a method for dodging blue shells (provided they exist) in Mario Kart Wii comes out, I'll be sure to learn it and post a video on it as soon as i can ^^
8/20/07: Wow, over 23k views, the most popular blue shell video on YouTube! Thanks for all the praise guys, and remember, if you've got any problems, questions, or if you just liked the video, post a comment or PM me! Thanks again =)
This is a new blue shell dodging video with higher quality clips, more clips, and a tutorial. All of the clips were recorded during racing, not during the replay, so it might be easier for you to see the correct timing. Made with Premiere Pro. My friend code is at the end of the video.
Songs were Faint and Numb, both by Linkin Park on their Meteora album. Don't post comments telling me how much you don't like Linkin Park, because those comments will be deleted and commenters reported for spam and blocked. I know I could have picked less shitty music but this was over two years ago and I didn't know any better. Get over it.
How to dodge shells:
What you do to dodge shells is start powersliding once you see an opponent has launched a shell. Once its hovering above you, you should have red sparks. You'll see it begin its drop, and at that moment you should let go of your powerslide and start powersliding again into your turn. (That is, if you were powersliding to the left, let go and start powersliding again with your finger pushing down on the left button.) If all goes well, the shell will dive too late and hit the ground, by which time you will be far enough away to escape the explosion.
Fucking WMG removed my shitty Linkin Park music last month but I just realized that YouTube's Audioswap has Seether in their library, which is considerably better than Meteora. Thus, the background music for this video is now "The Gift" by Seether, from the album Karma and Effect.

it works just by drifting??
does this work with a bike too?

Jesus, you really could not be bothered to read the huge "Mario Kart DS" title that appears for the first 5 seconds of video? This is not Mario Kart Wii, therefore, no, it does not work with a bike.

u noe, u can also do the way when u let go of R when the shell is actually coming down on u then u just boost away. u dont need to jump

By turning in the direction of your powerslide and jumping you are exiting the circular blast radius of the shell quicker, meaning your timing can be less precise and there is a higher degree of success than if you just continue in a straight line.
But whatever works.
