Are you aware that we spend more than double on healthcare than any other developed country.

And yet we have some of the worst rates of infant mortality rates, death rates for women during child birth, average life expectancy. (Among developed countries)

Clearly we're getting ripped off by the Insurance companies.

  • People so easily forget the 8 years of foolishness that dominated the whitehouse, created all these problems, and then handed them to Obama. It's only been 1 year and everyone's up in arms like this guy is the worst president ever. After 8 years of the other guy, people need to keep quiet and wait

  • They can always overide the veto, but I'm afraid it's too late for that.

  • OK, ty for keeping the discussion going. I won't deny that in some places your points probably hold true. They're perhaps gross generalizations but nonetheless are not inherently wrong. However, you fail to recognize that in many places care is simply refused and ailing people are left at the door, literally if they have not the means to pay. Either with insurance or out-of-pocket. A government option is not anything like a new entrant to a free market in health care. It is a new Tax. Period.

  • Stop Tax Payer Health Care for Congress

  • obama wants to keep a private sector, but assist those without or undercoverage...if they provide better healthcare then it wouldnt hurt just force them to be more efficient. And my other point was since people do not always pay for their health care services the hospital raises it prices to compensate for their losses which in turn raises costs for premiums

  • Is there a point in there somewhere.

Apparently you don't understand how the current system works nor how the proposed system will undermine the incentive for Health Care providers to innovate and provide good care.

If all you see are dollar signs then I hope you won't mind that your care will see diminishing returns and possibly result in more harm coming to you than if you hadn't sought treatment at all.

  • Where the hell does he come up with the number 50%, because it sounds good? 50% 50% in the business world if a make 40% margin (profit) your lucky..50% 50% whatever.

  • hypochondriac-The posion pill for any national healthcare reform

  • well i do pay my own bills and am currently a student as well, and work at a center for helping minorities so i dont get paid quick much and i would be paying for my own healthcare in taxes and so would they and overall if everyone pays it would bring down costs anyways because when i did have healthcare i had to pay for people who didnt pay anyways so prices go up when they dont pay to make up the lose...so either way i was paying now i prefer everyone to pay through taxes
