Look up Magna Force fixed gap magnetic couplings.
We installed a 1200 Hp version on a water pump.....insanely easy.
This allows installing a gear box to make use of a turbine's speed.
Also...back in the day, I used Gast Air Motors under steam pressure with great success.
Vane pumps. They will work just fine at 100 Lbs steam. Low speed too! You can't shut them off and leave them sit. I filled mine with lube when I knew they would sit.

@brownplayboy310 Making conventional turbines is an extremely specialized process. You might want to try using an automotive turbine instead, or you could try building a Tesla turbine, which is claimed to have a very high efficiency, but as far as I know it hasn't been proved in an actual power generating application.

I would like to make a steam turbine for my home. I am a Masters student in Chemical Engineering with a good understanding of mechanical things. Could you please post instructions on how to build this and materials needed? Thank you.

I have been working on the same thing. I am not as far long as you are though.
What size jet will you use for the wood gas? You can shot me a message

The Oil companies are trying their best to stop free energy ideas from spreading to common people.
We need to put an end to this corruption ,start generating your own electricity now.

@sabbadess check out solar parabolic dish, maybe u can incorporate that too, nice! u make the steam turbine?

@sabbadess is the turbine for general sale or is it used only in your own applications?

Make a condenser for this system and pull a vacuum. You could then reuse the condensate. You will save money on the pure water that you should be using in this system. A condenser will also boost the efficiency considerably. The vacuum would be easy to maintain. Just put some steam on the seals, get a steam jet venture, and have a good heat sink.
Neutron,
That is what the gray air handler in back does. It's just a condensing radiator coil with a fan blowing over it. The condenser runs about 8psia.

Given the amount of heat being put in the system you could theoretically generate about 8kW of electricity. The idea is to generate all the power for the house(net metered for year round) while heating it. This prototype is crude and had lots of issues but was a good learning rig to make a better one which is under way. The goal is to substitute wood gas shown in the other videos for propane.

Your turbine looks more like a pelton wheel which is okay turbines are High $ low efficiency on a small scale. I have a patent pending on a Rural Residential Energy Harvester I also call an energy bootlegger that will be a tube boiler to eliminate some of the danger & limitation of a large boiler tank. Ken,
Actually it's a custom impulse turbine. The latest one made in my shop is about $250. The custom boiler is only 500cc so the danger is minimal.

Man you gotta love good ol' ingenuity!! Great Stuff! I'm a power Industry Professional and I love this stuff great job!

Stay tuned. The new turbine and boiler are on the plasma table as we speak. The rig in the video had several issues which I am going to correct. Hopefully the new rig will heat and light my house this winter.
