I cord is not technically a cast on method, but rather an knit in place edging.

You can use I-cord to cast on, and to create a matching selvage.

You can finish the work with an I-cord bind off, and have a complete, almost invisible edging to your project.

Thank you so much to share you video and explanations. The way to add stitches with yo instead kfb is much better because you don´t get bandy stitches on your cast on row. Great!

I am glad you find this helpful.

It is not the "correct' way--(there is no correct way!) there is only the way that works best for you (or me, or anyone) and this is the method that works for me.

(and i agree its smoother.. but it can be looser too--i sometimes twist the stitches in row 1, to tighten them.)

for everyone asking about the knitting int htr4 back loop: she's using a style of knitting that wraps the yarn so that the leading leg of the stitch is in the back. to counter act that, she has to knit those stitches through the "back" so they wont' be twisted. if you're interested in this kind of knitting look up "eastern" style or "combination knitting".

You seem to work purling and yarnovers backwards from anyone else I've ever seen. And the knit stitches seem to be on backwards, so you're knitting them through the back loop. Confusing more than illuminating.

You seem to be knitting some of the stitches through the back loop, and sometimes not. And the knit stitches on the needle seem to be twisted differently than most knitted stitches. Is this part of the technique? No mention was made in the narration.

     - why did you knit in the back of the first stitch after your first cast on stitch (YO)? I did not see that in subsequent rows.
