I play Resident Evil again to give you a better idea of what it's like.

Resident Evil is the quintessential Survival Horror game. It lai d foundation and established so many game design paradigms that Shinji Mikami belongs in some sort of...video game...hall of fame...or something. Anyway, it's awesome.
The Saturn port is out of this world with great texturing, crisp backgrounds and great extras. Only lack of transparency and low sound quality hold it back.

Definitely worth owning for any Saturn collector.

  • Great footage man! The Saturn version has another extra monster, the Tick. It is a mix between a Hunter and a Licker. This is a GREAT port. I like that it is the orignal and not directors cut/dual shock versions... no auto aim is brutal lol & the original soundtrack is intact. The D-pad works well with the tank controls. An all time favorite of mine!

the cover art: the US Saturn art it is the rotting face of a zombie and not Chris holding a gun (which our PSX verison has). Much more grusome.

  • @m15granger That's right, as if you needed to make hunters more intimidating. That's what I like about this port of Resident Evil. It feels like a complete version of the ORIGINAL, not the Dual Shock version.

Ha ha, yeah, I've seen that, it's very cool. It was kind of the other way around with Resident Evil 2 we got a cool sort of thermal view of a rotting zombie in black and white while you got a hand coming around a door if I recall correctly?

  • Ugh not another skit, I'm doing research on this version and this is the second skit I've seen. Just be yourself man. I came here to see game footage.

not a 2 minute and sixteen second skit that serves no real purpose. Now don't get me wrong your gameplay portion was good but I feel The beginning was just a waste of time. You could have used that time to give more insight into the actual game which would have been real nice. But that's just my opinion I could be wrong.

  • @manikmista665plus1 Fair enough dude. We're all entitled to our own opinion. Fact of the matter is, if you don't like the content, then feel free to move on. I have built a subscriber base on my skits and the writing in my reviews, people enjoy them, so I'm not going to stop.

Additionally, this is kind of the first generation review style I had going originally. I dumped this for a more streamlined and to the point review style which you can see in the latest season.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  • @ItsCoolFromSaturn lol yup, we got a creepy hand and eye... yall's PAL cover looks better on RE2 to me. Tthat zombie face on SS RE1 is that zombie Jill finds eating on Jeremy at the very beginning... the hand & eye, who knows lol? I don't think it from any point in the game. Oh well, GREAT game. I played RE2 before I played 1 back in the day! & YES very impressive they fit 2 on a N64 cart when it took up two disc! They only cut a bit of the FMV and of course a dip in audio with no red book.

  • @ItsCoolFromSaturn You're welcome.

  • @RadiShineAmigo Yeah, it's a good story nontheless :3

  • @ItsCoolFromSaturn Yeah, I've heard that Mortal Kombat story.

    No problem! =)

  • @RadiShineAmigo Well, back then it was riding the "Mortal Kombat" controversy wave. I don't know if you know the story behind that and the formation of the ESRB but it's interesting. Find the wiki for it.

Soon people just kind of stopped caring.

It looks brilliant. I love this port of Resident Evil. It feels almost perfect, if it wasn't for that damned transparency.

Thanks Amigo, as usual I can count on you to give me feedback :3

  • Wow Thats stupid, this game was criticised because it was too gory? Capcom were only trying to bring video games to the next level.

Imagion if I played this in 1996... Ok done. I cried my head of, I was two years old! xD. I see what you mean though! Looks awesome for its time!

    Awesome video Andrew! =D

    Can't wait for more! =D
